Benefits abroad

Which benefits you can receive when abroad from Germany.

Generally you can also receive TK benefits abroad from Germany, if you are in a foreign country for a limited amount of time. It is not relevant if you are there for business or on vacation. This option, however, applies only to the countries of the European Union and countries with which the Federal Republic of Germany has concluded health insurance treaties.

To receive the benefits within the EU it is sufficient to present your health insurance card which includes the European health insurance card (EHIC) on the back.

For other countries with bilateral agreements special forms are required as proof of your TK membership. You have to present these forms before treatment. You can get them from the TK or you can download them online at www.tk.de at the exclusive online-service center 'Meine TK '. (You need to register first before you can use 'Meine TK'.)

Important: The TK only refunds costs for benefits that are listed in the catalogue of benefits of the statutory health insurances. For further information please check the website www.tk.de or give us a call.
