How much you have to pay for your health insurance.
The contribution you have to pay for your health insurance is calculated as a percentage of your gross salary, currently it is 15,5 percent. There is an upper limit set for the obligation to contribute premiums, the "contribution assessment ceiling". Contributions are only calculated up to this amount, currently 3712.50 Euro per month.
The contributions for your health insurance are equally shared by employer and employee and are automatically withhold by the employer and send to the insurance company. In addition, the employee has to pay a share equal to 0.9%. Insured persons over an age of 24 and without any children have to pay an extra fee of 0.25%, which is added to the long-term insurance.
