Social insurance system
Introduction to the German social insurance system.
The German social insurance system consists of five different constituents: Health insurance, statutory long-term care insurance, pension insurance, unemployment insurance and accident insurance.
It is based on the principle of solidarity: Every insured person contributes a certain amount of his or her income to the financing of the social insurance system, depending on the individual financial situation. The benefits are the same for every insured person though.
