What costs does TK cover for artificial insemination and under what conditions? We cover 50 percent of the treatment costs for the married partner insured with TK. This also applies to the medications prescribed in connection with the treatment. Our share is billed directly via the eHealth card. We also offer a further range of additional benefits.
1. Additional TK benefit: further subsidy towards your share of the costsWe pay a further subsidy of up to 500 EUR towards your share of the costs for in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). 2. Additional TK benefit: assisted hatching and TESEStarting 1 January 2026, we provide a one-time subsidy of up to 200 EUR for assisted hatching for female insurees aged 37 and older. The following conditions must be met:You are undergoing ICSI or IVF andprevious unsuccessful attempts with this method have been made despite good chances of success, oryou have a measurably thickened zona pellucida, orembryos from cryopreserved eggs after cancer treatment are being used.Starting 1 January 2026 we contribute to the costs of testicular sperm extraction (TESE) for male insurees if this is medically justified. You will receive a one-time subsidy of up to 300 EUR.3. Additional TK benefit: Attempts with cryopreserved eggsIf surplus and cryopreserved eggs from a previous attempt are used in a treatment approved by us, we will also cover 50 percent of the contractual costs for this attempt.Important: cost coverage is provided as an alternative to a so-called "fresh cycle" and is counted towards the maximum number of attempts.Requirements for us to share in the costsFor us to share in the costs certain conditions must be met:TK must approve the treatment plan before the start of treatment.The couple must be married. If only one married partner is insured with us, we can only cover the costs incurred for this person. Please send us the invoice for your share of the costs.Only the egg and sperm cells of the couple may be used.Both married partners must be at least 25 years old. The woman must be below 40 at the time of artificial insemination and the man must be under 50. In addition, the doctor must regard the chances of a pregnancy as good. After 3unsuccessful attempts, pregnancy is no longer considered likely.
It is up to the doctor to decide whether the medical requirements for artificial insemination are met.

After treatment: receive your subsidyTo receive your subsidy, send us the invoice for your share of the costs together with your bank details. You can send us your documents via the TK-App. Simply go to "Reimbursement", write us a message and select the topic "Artificial insemination". You can also send the invoice and your bank details by post to the above address.
Additional subsidies for artificial insemination from federal or state governments in GermanyFederal and state governments may provide additional subsidies.
