Which costs does TK cover if I need dental fillings? Your TK insurance covers various dental fillings. The costs are billed directly to us by the dental practice via your TK eHealth card.
The following benefits are covered by your TK eHealth card:Amalgam fillings:Since 1 January 2025 dental amalgam may not be used for new fillings. Your dental practice must offer you a free alternative. The dental practice decides which alternative material to use. Fillings using self-adhesive materials:In the posterior region, self-adhesive materials are covered by statutory dental insurance. We cover the costs of these materials. "Self-adhesive" means that no additional bonding agent is required. Your dentist will inform you which free material can be used in your individual case.Self-adhesive materials include glass ionomer cements and self-adhesive composite hybrids, for example.The costs of more expensive materials are also covered for anterior teeth. These include the incisors and canines in the upper and lower jaws.Compomers:We also cover the costs of these materialsInlays: These costs are covered up to the amount charged for a filling by a contract dentist.
Additional costs: If you opt for another kind of filling or a more expensive material, you will have to pay the additional costs yourself. Your dentist will let you know how much you have to pay. You will be required to sign a written agreement on the additional costs before the treatment begins. Replacement of intact fillings: These costs are not covered by TK. This means if your filling is still intact, you have to pay for the replacement yourself.Private invoices: You may only submit a private invoice if you have opted for cost reimbursement . Otherwise, the practice will invoice us via your eHealth card. Please note that this information is currently only available in German. 
Cover your share of the costs for inlays and dental fillings with supplementary insuranceWith supplementary insurance, you can reduce your share of the costs. You can find supplementary insurance that suits your needs on online comparison sites for example.
