We subsidise all online and face-to-face health courses which you can find in our German-language health course search (Gesundheitskurssuche). For these courses, we cover 80% of the fees up to 150 EUR for individual courses and 300 EUR for combined courses.
More details
What costs do we cover for health courses?
Subsidies for courses which began before 15 October 2024:
- TK courses: full reimbursement of all costs
- Face-to-face courses: 80% of the course fees up to a maximum of 75 EUR (individual course) or 150 EUR (combined course)
- Online courses: 100% up to a maximum of 100 EUR
What are online courses?
Online course programmes are self-study courses offered in the form of an internet intervention or app, in which learning videos, reflection questions or automated feedback replace course instruction. This also includes certified local courses that stream their courses live via video.
What are the requirements for reimbursement?
- We can only reimburse you on a pro-rata basis if you attended the course regularly. "Regularly" means you attended at least 80% of on-site or scheduled online sessions. You must complete 100% of all sessions or content of online courses which do not have a scheduled time or fixed location.
- The quality of the health courses must have been certified by the Zentrale Prüfstelle Prävention [Central Test Centre for Preventive Health Courses] and the 3-year certification period must not have expired.
- The courses must have a fixed start and end date and be attended by a fixed group of participants. Unfortunately, we are unable to subsidise courses that last indefinitely.
Information on reimbursement
- In principle, a maximum of 2 courses are subsidised per calendar year. The decisive factor is the date on which the course begins.
- Combined courses consist of 2 different fields of activity, such as "exercise" and "nutrition", and are counted as 2 courses.
- If you opt for a TK concept health course, we will cover the costs in full. These can be identified by clicking on "Nur Kurse nach TK-Konzept anzeigen" in the health course search.
- You cannot submit courses that took place more than 4 years ago for reimbursement. Example: You can submit a course for reimbursement from 2023 up until 31 December 2027.
Special regulations for children
As a general rule, children must be at least 6 years old to attend health courses.
In the case of courses aimed at improving stress management skills or weight loss courses, children must be at least 8 years old.
However, we may only cover the costs if the programmes are specifically designed for this age group and parents are involved in the programme, usually up to the age of 12.
We reimburse 100% of the courses fees, up to the maximum reimbursement amount, for children and adolescents until their 18th birthday.
How do I claim a reimbursement?
Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate of attendance. You need this to claim reimbursement for the pro-rata course fees.
To get a reimbursement, simply submit this certificate online in the "Meine TK" members' area via the TK-App.
Alternatively, you can send the certificate by post to the below address (a street name and house number are not required):
Techniker Krankenkasse
20910 Hamburg
Are you not yet registered for the "Meine TK" members' area? The easiest way to do this is in the TK-App .
