The TK eHealth card acts as proof of your insurance cover when you visit a doctor. With this card you can use medical services in Germany and abroad. All you have to do is present the handy chip card when you receive medical treatment from doctors, in hospitals or by approved therapists - it couldn’t be simpler!

A tiny chip on the eHealth card stores insurance data such as your full name, date of birth, address and membership number. With the TK eHealth card, doctors and therapists can settle the fees for services directly with us.

As a security measure to protect against misuse, the TK eHealth card includes a photo of insurees aged 15 years and older and must be signed on the back of the card.

The TK eHealth card lets you use medical services throughout Germany. The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is on the back of your TK eHealth card. The EHIC ensures access to healthcare in all 27 EU states as well as many other European countries and even in certain non-European territories.

Yes, you can also assign a PIN of your choice. To do this, please visit a TK customer service centre. To create a new PIN, you first have to enter your old PIN on the card reader. You can then assign a new PIN.
