How do I get a foreign health insurance certificate?
You can download a foreign health insurance certificate for yourself and any family members travelling with you who are covered by your insurance via the TK-App. Alternatively, you can download the certificate via "Meine TK" ["My TK"]. You only need this certificate when travelling to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tunisia and Turkey. You can also request this certificate by calling us on +49 40 - 46 06 62 53 00. We will then send you this certificate by post. The certificate includes your name, a validity date and a TK stamp.Should you require medical care abroad, you should have this foreign health insurance certificate exchanged into a treatment certificate by the country’s social insurance carrier.In order to ensure comprehensive insurance cover, we recommend that you take out travel health insurance. Please note that you must still be located in Germany at the time of taking out this cover.Travelling within EuropeThanks to the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), your TK eHealth card provides you insurance cover throughout Europe . Which means you should always take your card with you when you travel.
