How do I get a foreign health insurance certificate? Foreign health insurance certificates for yourself and family members travelling with you who are covered by free family insurance can be downloaded either via the TK-App or the German-language online process "Auslandskrankenschein" below.

To use this online service, you first need to register for the "Meine TK" members' area. The easiest way to do this is via the TK-App: You only need this certificate when travelling to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tunisia and Turkey. You can also request this certificate by calling us on +49 40 - 46 06 62 53 00 We will then send you this certificate by post. The certificate includes your name, a validity date and a TK stamp.Should you require medical care abroad, you should have this foreign health insurance certificate exchanged into a treatment certificate by the country’s social insurance carrier.In order to ensure comprehensive insurance cover, we recommend that you take out travel health insurance. Please note that you must still be located in Germany at the time of taking out this cover.Health care cover when travelling in EuropeThe European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), on the back of your TK eHealth card, provides you insurance cover throughout Europe . This means you should always take your card with you when you travel.
