How do I get a foreign health insurance certificate?

To use this online service, you first need to register for the "Meine TK" members' area. The easiest way to do this is via the TK-App:

You only need this certificate when travelling to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Tunisia and Turkey. You can also request this certificate by calling us on

We will then send you this certificate by post. The certificate includes your name, a validity date and a TK stamp.

Should you require medical care abroad, you should have this foreign health insurance certificate exchanged into a treatment certificate by the country’s social insurance carrier.

In order to ensure comprehensive insurance cover, we recommend that you take out travel health insurance. Please note that you must still be located in Germany at the time of taking out this cover.
