Do I need a referral to see a medical specialist?
You can see the doctor of your choice. Before starting treatment, please confirm with the doctor whether they need a referral for billing.You may only see some doctors, e.g. radiologists, if you have been referred.Your referral is valid for more than 1 quarter. This means you may still use your referral even if the doctor, to whom you have been referred, does not start treating you until the next quarter. You also do not need a new referral if your treatment is not completed within a quarter.Important: You must always show your valid eHealth card to receive treatment.
