Registering in the TK-Ident-App to get your TK-HealthID

The TK-HealthID is your digital identity in the health care sector. Once this ID is linked to a device via the TK-Ident App it can be used. To get your TK-HealthID, you first have to identify yourself in the TK-Ident App with either your TK eHealth card or your ID card. You will need the respective card's PIN for this. Detailed instructions on how to register can be found on this page.

You weren't able to register in the TK-Ident App? There can be numerous reasons for this. We have compiled various troubleshooting options.

You can register using your TK eHealth card. You will need the PIN for your TK eHealth. Click on the linkbelow for details on how to get this PIN.

Get a PIN for your TK eHealth card

To get your TK-HealthID:

Install and set up the TK-Ident App.

Specify a PIN for the TK-HealthID in the TK-Ident App.

Identify yourself with either your TK eHealth card and PIN or your ID card and PIN.

Once your registration request has been approved, you can start using your TK-HealthID straight away.

Setting up the TK-Ident App - step 1

Do you not yet have a TK-HealthID? In that case, you need to register. Your TK-HealthID will be created during this registration process.

Do you already have a TK-HealthID? In that case, it is important to select "Register device" instead of "Register" to set up the TK-Ident App. TK is entitled by law to provide you with your TK-HealthID. This is your digital identity for health care. Before this can be done, you have to agree to the terms of use and the privacy policy.

Specify your 6-digit TK-HealthID PIN.

Step 1 of 2 is complete: you are now ready to create your TK-HealthID.

Setting up the TK-Ident App - step 2

You decide how you want to identify yourself. You can choose between:

Identification with your TK eHealth card and PIN

Identification with your online ID card and PIN (the German ID card, electronic residence permit or eID card for EU citizens are all valid)

If you use your online ID, you must first enter your insurance number. This can be found on the bottom of the front of your TK eHealth card.

The TK-Ident App guides you through the identification process. Once this is complete, your registration request will be matched with the data stored at TK and your TK-HealthID will be created.

In this step, the device you use will be registered for your TK-HealthID.

Device list

You will find your device in the list of registered devices. This list can be accessed via the TK-Ident App settings. You can rename the device here.

You can set up your TK-Ident App on several devices. Please note that in this case it is important to select "Register device" instead of "Register" when setting up the TK-Ident App.

If you delete the TK-Ident App from one of your devices, the device's operating system will not inform the TK-HealthID. However, you can then remove the unused device from another device on the device list in the TK-Ident App.

Your health and social data are valuable assets and must not fall into the wrong hands. As your TK-HealthID provides you access to your sensitive data, a robust identification process is crucial.

When you create and set up your TK-HealthID on the first device with the TK-Ident App, we have to make sure you are who you say you are.

The established login method can subsequently be used to manage the TK-HealthID.

In certain situations, you may have to identify yourself again. The TK-Ident App will guide you through this process. Re-identification is necessary, for example, if the access authorisation for the TK-HealthID has to be renewed or if your ID card is not yet known to the TK-HealthID.

The TK eHealth card stores your digital identity for the health care sector. In combination with the PIN, it allows you to access your data, for example in TK-Safe. With the TK eHealth card secure 2-factor authentication is possible. The first factor, possession, is the TK health card in your hands. The second factor, knowledge, is the PIN for your health card. You have to identify yourself when one of these two factors is issued to ensure that only you can access your data.

After you have successfully set up the TK-Ident App, 2 factors are necessary to use the TK-HealthID: You need to have the device on which the TK-Ident App is installed as well as the PIN for the TK-Ident App on this device.

You can specify the login with the PIN or password of your device (which you use for the lock screen) as the preferred method for logging in to the TK-Ident App. Nevertheless, a TK-HealthID PIN must always be defined. This way, the TK-Ident App is secured if the login with the system PIN or password is deactivated on the device.

Due to technical and functional specifications, your device has to meet certain requirements for the TK-Ident App to be installed. These criteria are:

One of the supported operating systems is used:

official Google Android release 8.0 or greater

iOS release 15.0 or greater

The platform’s security mechanisms have not been bypassed (root, jailbreak etc.)

Your device is secured with a screen lock.

NFC is available
