Home Support & FAQ FAQ - Easy access to health care What is an E-Rezept and how does it work?
What is an E-Rezept and how does it work? An ePrescription, or E-Rezept as it is known in German, is a digital prescription that replaces the traditional pink paper one.
After your appointment, your doctor may issue an E-Rezept. These prescriptions are encrypted by the medical practice and sent to a central service. They remain here, securely protected from unauthorized access, until they are retrieved by the pharmacy. There are 3 ways to redeem your E-Rezept at the pharmacy:Via the app: with the E-Rezept application in the TK-App, you can manage your prescriptions on your smartphone and redeem them at the pharmacy of your choice. From anywhere and at any time. The gematik E-Rezept app is also available to you. With your TK eHealth card: simply present your eHealth card to the pharmacy to get your prescription. With a QR code: you can have a QR code printed on paper by the practice, which will be scanned at the pharmacy More details on how to redeem an E-Rezept Are all medications available via E-Rezept?Most medications can be prescribed using an E-Rezept. However, certain items like blood sugar test strips, medical aids, and treatments such as physiotherapy are still issued on paper prescriptions. They are being gradually transitioned to the E-Rezept system. Can someone else redeem my E-Rezept?Yes, another person can redeem your E-Rezept. They will need to present your health card or the printed QR code from your doctor. No additional authorisation is required. How long is an E-Rezept valid? An electronic prescription is valid for the same amount of time as the pink paper prescription - 4 weeks. In your electronic prescription application, you can see how long you have to redeem your prescriptions at the expense of TK. If you redeem the prescription later, you will have to pay the costs yourself. This is possible up to a maximum of 3 months after being issued. How do I submit a private electronic prescription to TK?You must pay for private electronic prescriptions at the pharmacy first. We need a medical prescription or the printout of the electronic prescription and the pharmacy's invoice in order to provide a reimbursement. You can submit a prescription for reimbursement via our "Meine TK" members' area either in English in the TK-App or in German using the link below.
