Furthermore, Nect is the first provider to have been authorised by Gematik to carry out the ePass procedure. Please note that the Nect Wallet app is provided in German.

Will Nect work on my mobile phone?

Since the iPhone XR and XS, iPhones have supported the necessary NFC function as standard. On your Android smartphone, go to "Settings" and look for NFC. This will tell you whether your device supports NFC or not.

What types of ID are accepted?

Identity card (German, Ukrainian, Spanish, Greek, Romanian)

German residence permit

German passport

EU ID cards

International passports complying with ICAO standards

The types of identity documents accepted may vary depending on the procedure. A German identity card or passport is accepted for all procedures. Please check for the relevant symbols indicating the ePass and eID functions on your document.

Which procedures does the Nect Wallet app offer?

ePass

Symbol ePass

You scan your identity card, passport or residence permit using your smartphone’s NFC function and then record a short selfie video. During this process, the biometric features stored on your chip are compared with your face. You do not need a PIN for your identity document.

eID

Symbol eID

You can have the NFC chip on your German electronic identity card or residence permit read and identify yourself using your corresponding 6-digit PIN.

Please note: This procedure is not available when you order your PIN for the eHealth card.

Automated video ID

You record a short video of your identity document (passport or identity card) and then a short selfie video. Your identity document is checked against its security features and your image is automatically compared with you. A PIN for your identity document is not required.

How to identify yourself with Nect

Open the TK-App

Select "Continue" in the Identification required screen in order to start the identification process with Nect.

Switch to the Nect app

Select the button to go to the Nect wallet.

Start identification

Ensure that you start the process directly from the TK-App so that your details are automatically matched correctly. Please note that the Nect Wallet app is only available in German.

Verify your identity

Complete the identity verification process within the Nect app.

Return to the TK-App

Once you have completed the process, use the button in the Nect app to return to the TK-App.
