We may only cover the costs of medically necessary services that people insured in your destination country would also receive and which cannot wait until your return. This is why we strongly advise that you take out private supplementary insurance for trips abroad.

Show your TK eHealth card abroad

In most European countries, you can use your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for your visit to the dentist. You will find the EHIC on the back of your TK eHealth card. We have compiled a list of countries where you can use the EHIC.

The EHIC can only be used for visits to statutory health insurance physicians under contract to the respective health insurance provider abroad. Billed dental treatment

If your EHIC was not accepted and you had to pay the costs of your dental visit yourself, it is essential that you have the dentist issue a detailed invoice.

Cover your share of the costs with supplementary insuranceThe services covered abroad are often very restricted, particularly if you need to see a dentist. This means you may have to bear part or all of the costs yourself. With supplementary insurance, you can reduce your share of these costs. You can find supplementary insurance that suits your needs on online comparison sites for example.
