Does TK pay for professional teeth cleaning?

How to get your subsidy

Use either the TK-App or our website: To get your subsidy you need to access the "Meine TK" member area either online or via the TK-App.

If necessary, activate your TK mailbox for a quick digital response: If you do not want to wait for a reimbursement letter by post, simply activate your digital mailbox . Please note that this link is in German.

Submit the invoice: After you have paid to have your teeth cleaned professionally, upload the invoice from the dental practice via the app (in English) or online (in German). The invoice must state "professionelle Zahnreinigung" [professional teeth cleaning] or the number "GOZ 1040". No further documents are required. Please note that we cannot pay the invoice and will return it if the required information is missing.

Check your bank details: Ensure that your bank details are up to date in the app or on the website.

Family members: Applications can only be submitted online for family members who are listed. If family members are insured with us themselves, they must use their own account.

Please note the date: We do not reimburse costs for dental cleanings performed before 1 October 2022.

Subsidy for professional teeth cleaning from supplementary dental insurance

With supplementary insurance, you can reduce your share of the costs. You can find supplementary insurance that suits your needs on online comparison sites for example.

Why did I get a private invoice?

Professional tooth cleaning is not a statutory benefit. It cannot therefore be billed via your TK eHealth card. You will therefore receive a private invoice. We will pay you a subsidy as a benefit specified in our statutes.

Why is professional teeth cleaning only covered from the age of 18?

Compared to adults, insurees between the ages of 6 and 18 receive enhanced preventive care via their TK eHealth card. This is known as

individual prophylaxis

. This means we already offer children and young people comprehensive measures in the area of preventive care and prophylaxis.
