What happens to my health insurance at the end of my studies?

Your insurance cover ends:

When you complete your degree or deregister from university. You will then need to arrange alternative health insurance cover.

When you leave Germany on a permanent basis.

At the end of the semester in which you turn 30.

You will then need to arrange alternative health insurance cover. Please do not hesistate to get in touch, we will be pleased to advise you on your health insurance options.

Are you leaving Germany permanently?

Your membership with TK ends on the date you leave Germany permanently. This is the case regardless of whether you are still enrolled at your university or not. Please inform us that you will be leaving Germany. You will also no longer have to pay contributions as of this date.

I am leaving Germany permanently. What about my health insurance cover?

Students over the age of 30

You cannot be covered if you are 30 or older. In that case, you will need to pay the regular contributions for voluntarily insured persons. The amount is based on your income. Just contact us and we will be happy to advise you.
