TK covers the costs of the dental fillings listed below.

More details

  • Fillings made of amalgam - if your dentist no longer uses amalgam, they must offer an alternative covered by statutory health insurance for which no co-payment is required.
  • Fillings made of plastic (composite) up to and including tooth three at the front. The front teeth include the incisors and canine teeth in the upper and lower jaw.
  • We only subsidise plastic (composite) fillings at the sides in the case of
    • pregnant and nursing women
    • children under 15 years of age
    • amalgam allergies proven by skin tests (epicutaneous tests). An allergy pass specifying hypersensitivity to phenylmercuric borate or acetate or other inorganic mercury compounds is not sufficient.
    • severe renal insufficiency
  • Glass ionomer cement/compomers
  • Inlays: We will cover an amount equivalent to the cost of a comparable amalgam filling. The dental practice will bill this amount directly using your TK eHealth card.

If you choose another kind of filling or filling material, you will have to pay the additional costs yourself. Your dentist will give you information about your co-payment. You will be required to sign a written cost agreement before the treatment begins.

Replacements of intact fillings are not covered by statutory health insurance; you will have to pay these costs yourself. This also applies if you have a proven allergy to the components of amalgam.

Supplementary insurance plans for inlays and dental fillings

TK's cooperation partner Envivas Krankenversicherung AG offers supplementary insurance plans that also cover additional costs for items such as inlays or fillings.
