Vaccinations can be billed using your insurance card if they are regulated in the Schutzimpfungs-Richtlinie [Preventive Vaccination Directive]. These guidelines are based on the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO) at the Robert Koch Institute.

We pay the costs of these vaccinations
We pay the costs for all standard and routine vaccinations that are recommended by the Ständige Impfkommission (STIKO) [German Standing Committee on Vaccination] at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). Under certain conditions, these include:
- COVID-19
- Diphtheria
- Shingles (Herpes zoster)
- Haemophilus influenzae b
- Hepatitis A and hepatitis B
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
- Influenza (flu)
- Poliomyelitis (polio)
- Measles
- Meningococcal infections
- Mumps
- Whooping cough (pertussis)
- Pneumococcal infections
- Rotavirus
- Rubella
- Rabies
- Tuberculosis
- Chicken pox (varicella)
- Lockjaw (tetanus)
- Tick-borne encephalitis
Also:
- TK supplementary benefit: travel vaccinations as a non-statutory benefit
- TK supplementary benefit: HPV vaccinations for women and men aged from 18 to 26
- TK supplementary benefit: flu vaccinations for insurees under 60 years of age
- TK supplementary benefit: tick-borne encephalitis vaccinations outside TBE risk areas
Some vaccinations, e.g. against polio, tetanus or diphtheria, are also offered free of charge by other providers such as the public health departments. "Vaccination campaigns" at nurseries, schools or public health departments are intended to achieve the highest possible degree of vaccination coverage.
